“Exercise is “medicine” for people with cancer” says Accredited Exercise Physiologist Aden Reynolds announcing Eurobodalla Health and Fitness will continue to run their successful oncology exercise programme. Launched in 2019, their oncology programme is specifically designed to support people in our community to better manage their cancer diagnosis.
“We know that a structured exercise program has many benefits for people managing a cancer diagnosis. An exercise program can be positive for both physical and mental health.”
Benefits people have shared gaining from the oncology exercise program include:
- Improved health-related quality of life
- Reduced levels of anxiety and depression
- Improved physical function such as range of movement and strength
- Improved management of cancer-related fatigue
- Reducing side effects from treatments such as chemotherapy or hormone depravation therapy
“The great news is that these benefits can be experienced at any stage of someone’s cancer journey, including while receiving treatment such as chemotherapy. We know that throughout the journey, that adjustments will be needed, and we are here to help.”
“On the journey we work together to create the most effective plan for the person. We have oncology group classes and individual support options available. We also offer multiple options for appointments, including face to face and Tele-Health for those who would prefer. We have locations in both Moruya and Batemans Bay.”
