Isolated Patient Transport and accommodation assistance

Assistance for isolated patients

IPTAAS is the Isolated Patients Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme. This is a NSW Government scheme providing financial assistance towards travel and accommodation costs when a patient needs to travel long distances for treatment that is not available locally. You will find a video to help you apply for assistance, and it’s 8mins long and well worth watching.

“I had a recent stay in hospital and then a follow-up with a specialist out of the area (Canberra). I was eligible to claim accommodation and travel assistance through this scheme. I applied online via the link below and found it easy and straightforward. The payment came through in a week. To complete online, you will need an individual reference number, which can be obtained initially by contacting them via phone at 1800 478 227. Please also note that you will only need your practitioner’s signature on a physical form if you claim accommodation for more than two nights”. Local Tuross Head resident.

If you are unsure you are eligible, there are simple steps to check. It will make the whole process easier for you.

The options have a good layout, as there are six forms. They say what to use dependent on your circumstances.
