Medical and Nursing Students – Your consent

Our practice welcomes medical students from the Australian National University Medical School, nursing students from the University of Wollongong, and students from universities affiliated with the Australian Primary Nurse Association (APNA). These students are integrated into our practice and may be present during consultations as part of their training.

Your consent is always required. Before you meet a student, our reception staff and your doctor will ask whether you are comfortable with the student attending your consultation. If you would rather not have a student present, please feel free to decline—this will not affect your care in any way.

Our two general practices are AGPAL accredited – what does this mean?

Being accredited means that our general practices at Moruya and Broulee are committed to a comprehensive program which involves:
    • Engaging our whole practice team to review our practice’s systems and processes.
    • Opening our practice doors to allow a team of independent surveyors to assess how our practice operates
    • Assessment of our practice, and achievement of the nationally recognised Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Standards for general practices, that focus on health care quality and patient safety.
You may be surprised to learn that general practice accreditation is a voluntary process – which means not all practices undergo an independent on-site assessment on a regular basis. Achievement of AGPAL accreditation reassures you that our doctors and practice team are committed to providing you with high quality health care in a safe environment.

Our commitment to GP vocational training

For many years our practice has participated in the vocational education and training of GP registrars and overseas trained doctors (OTD) – many of our doctors began their general practice career as either a registrar or an OTD under supervised training with our practice. In this regard, we continue to attract talented and dedicated doctors to our region.

Queen Street Medical Centre is pleased to work with the training organisations who oversee this training – Rural Doctors Network (RDN), Royal College of General Prctitioners (RACGP) and the Australian College of Remote and Rural Medicine (ACRRM).

Queen Street Medical Centre GP Partners Dr Les Roberts Thomson and Dr Neil Starmer, are dual accredited to deliver training programmes for both training organisations for RACGP and ACRRM. Also Dr Eliza Dally and Dr Kimberley Benson are also accredited supervisors for these organisations, and assist in the training and supervising of our registrars.
