Careers with us

Welcome to our Queen Street Medical Centre – located in the heart of the Eurobodalla region on the south coast of NSW. Three Queen Street Medical Centre practices serve our community – at Moruya (our largest practice), Broulee Beach and Tuross Head.

For more than 40 years our practice has provided medical services to our regional community spanning the towns of Batemans Bay, Broulee, Moruya, Tuross and Narooma. Our doctors continue to provide VMO and obstetrics services to the Moruya District Hospital.

For us – taking care of our community’s health needs is a professional, shared journey based on mutual knowledge and respect. Our philosophy directing all that we do and how and why we do it for our patients and the people with whom we work is this:

Your health is our shared journey

Here in Moruya – the original and largest of our three general practices operates within a new purpose-built medical centre. Including our GP practice, this centre now houses eight health services tenants plus visiting specialists and allied health professionals. This five-year expansion lead by our practice, has delivered an impressive hub of medical services to our community including new MRI and Nuclear imaging services.

Our doctors say

“What a privilege to be here working in this place called Moruya where the day starts, often on two wheels, commuting along a stunning river. Being a part of this great team at the medical centre helps to enhance the privilege of our role.”

Dr Charlie Lavender

“I chose to move to QSMC Moruya – it’s a large, friendly, well-run practice in a new building where I enjoy working with my many GP colleagues who have different talents.”

Dr Peter James

“35 years ago I began my GP career here at QSMC. I love the longevity of our team, its evolution of new people and the development of our new surgery. I am still surfing, kayaking, photographing, hiking, travelling – happily married and a grandfather of 2 – fantastic!”

Dr Tim Shepherd

“I have developed a great fondness for coastal living in this beautiful rural setting. At QSMC I continue my passion working as a rural GP to care for the people in this lovely community while enjoying a relaxed lifestyle with my family.”

Dr Kishani Weerasena

“I have been a GP registrar for two years now and am very excited to be with the Queen Street team. When I’m not working you might find me watching cricket in the summer, NRL in winter, fishing on Coila or frolicking in my garden.”

Dr Emily Goodwin

“I am passionate about training GP registrars and medical students – our next generation of doctors with a particular focus on the 3rd year medical students who chose to live and study in our lovely coastal/rural area.”
